Does Kognii Redact require uploading PDFs?
No. It is a standalone desktop app. Sensitive documents stay on your device.
What can it detect automatically?
Names, company names, email addresses, physical addresses, and monetary amounts. You can also add manual text or area redactions for codenames, account numbers, or anything the detector missed.
Can I review suggestions before applying redactions?
Yes. Kognii prepares suggested redactions, and you decide what to keep, remove, or add before export.
Are redactions permanent?
Yes. Redacted content is removed from the PDF, not just visually covered. Metadata is stripped on export.
How is this different from Adobe Acrobat or a cloud tool?
Acrobat relies on manual mark-up. Cloud tools require upload. Kognii suggests redactions across the document, lets you review them in a queue, and applies permanent redactions locally.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Scanned PDF support is on the roadmap. The current preview focuses on text-based PDFs first.
